He's here! What a blessing this little man has already been!

This has been an incredible week for me and the Boatright family. We checked into the hospital on Thursday night after some yummy sushi for my last meal :)
Friday morning I was having some strong contractions on my own and we started the induction. It was really smooth sailing - I was pretty out of it but remember a few visitors.
Around 3 it was game time and at 3:38 our little man was here!

Everything went very smoothly and Collier is a healthy boy!

Mabry was not so sure about this whole hospital/baby brother thing. She was mostly concerned with watching Dora and eating candy.

Mabry has adjusted well overall I think. She's had her moments but for the most part she likes to help with "baby" and hasn't shown too much jealousy. She's getting plenty of attention by doing everything she knows she's not supposed to. I can't believe how big she seems and how fast time has flown by since she was born. I just want to cherish all these sweet moments - even when they are hard. Ask me in about a week how that's going :)

In my efforts to be a better, or more consistent blogger...I guess I'm just supposed to show you pictures and tell you what we do all day!

So here goes.

Mabry has become obsessed with rocking chairs. She has to rock in all of them everyday. And rock her babies, toys, blocks, and tiger in them.

She also is in love with the Snyder Tiger and asked about it for a week. So Gram decided she needed to have one at home...sorry, no picture. Now she has to sleep with "banket", baby, AND tiger.
The next few are at CJ's birthday party.

Diapers don't matter

I know you're all on your toes wondering how potty training a 20 month old can possibly be a good idea, much less successful.

Well, as you might have guessed it is HARD. But I think it's hard at any age so I was expecting that. The 3 day potty training method was recommended to me and is actually a good method I think. It seemed to be working for us.
I won't get into all the lovely details with you, but we had one whole accident-free day on Saturday.
Then, we left the house.

As could be expected there were moments of frustration and satisfaction for both Mabry and I. Of course, I never let her see my frustration because that is NOT in the method......(hear: hint of sarcasm)

So life went on over the weekend and here we are at Wednesday night, and let me tell you it has not been a week I want to relive, ever.

God is at work, but it's not the kind of work we ever like to be a part of.
Yesterday, we stood by some friends as they buried much too small a casket.
Holden Newell Erwin
went to be with Jesus before his Mommy and Daddy ever had the chance to smell his baby breath or see him open his eyes, or change his diaper.
As I've prayed for this family, prayed that they could SEE God in this, I've had a heart check myself and perhaps a more focused perspective on my life as a mom and a believer.

I don't mean to lessen the pain and tragedy of what our friends are dealing with by talking about diapers, but in this moment diapers don't matter.

In this moment,
I don't want to be frustrated by my baby girl because of something I'm causing.
In this moment,
I want to color with her on the floor and not worrying about keeping her drawers dry.
In this moment,
I want to leave the house, or go for a walk, and enjoy my time with her.
In this moment,
I want to draw nearer to God and let Him work.

Unredeemed
The cruelest words, the coldest heart
The deepest wounds, the endless dark
The lonely ache, the burning tears
The bitter nights, the wasted years

Life breaks and falls apart

Summer, Summer! Where have you gone?

I know I have a TON of catching up to do from this summer - and I apologize. When my mom asked me today if I was ever going to do anything on this blog again, I figured I should get busy.

We started off the summer in Missouri for Edie's graduation! We are so proud of her! And she's going to keep going! We spent some good time with all the family even though it was a short visit.
Ava joined us at the zoo one day. Mabry did everything she did, including walk all over the place and climb stairs for the first time.
Spent. I wish you could see her entire outfit from this day...

Jeremiah was a part of Ben and Courtney Boyd's wedding and Mabry had a blast playing in all the flowers and dancing in the bubblesthe zoo again
We also made a few trips to the lake. This might be my favorite picture of them - I can't get over the hairdos :)
As you can see from the very top of the blog we spent a ton of time in the water this summer and Mabry loves it!
Jeremiah and I had a nice little get away to Austin, (Thanks Kristin!) where we stayed at Barton Creek Resort. Ty and Natalie met us one night for stuffed avocados - to. die. for.
We also had to say "see ya later" to our friends the Peabody's this summer. Good thing they are only 86 miles away though :) Love you guys!

Next up was our visit to East Texas. We stayed with our friends the Boddy's for a weekend (and this was the only picture somehow), and loved getting to hang out with them again.
Oops, back up to Makali's birthday party....
Mabry had to help her open all the presents, but this one was definitely her favorite. Maybe she'll take after her Momma!
Ok, back to East Texas. Mabry and I spent the next few days with Granny and Grandpa, and Mamma. This is a pretty accurate picture of what went on the whole time...:)
So sweet. I'll cherish this forever.

And that wraps up most of our summer. I'm sure there are a few I left out and you can find more on facebook.

Currently Mabry is potting training...enough said....

I'm almost 25 weeks along and Collier is doing great! Growing growing! Dancing on my bladder.

Oh yeah - we got a new(er) car this week too! So don't look for me in old blue anymore. It's for sale by the way. I will now be rocking a different mom car - a red expedition with tan on the bottom. It's pretty sweet.

Ok friends, this is probably the boldest post I've posted in a long time, maybe ever.

This is Lucia. She is at Canaan Orphanage in Haiti and we believe she belongs in our family.

Please please pray fervently with us for God to be in the details. That's all I will say for now. He has a plan for her.

Today is a special day for us as we celebrate Lucia’s 7 month birthday! This precious child is such a blessing to us here at Canaan. Everybody loves her huge smile and joyful giggle!! Marcus and I couldn’t have a more blessed time with her! I wanted to give you all a little update on her!

She sits up on her own - a little wobbly, but she’s getting the hang of it.

Rolling over is old time news....she rolls with the best of them, getting too fast for us, we really have to watch where we lay her!

Big news!! She’s getting two new bottom teeth coming in! In Creole, “L’ap fe dan”! Along with that comes diarrhea and little fevers or outbursts of tears, but she’s a trooper!

She loves to mimic her ‘bodily functional noises’ and is getting quite good at it!

She likes carrots - avocados are on the menu next for this upcoming week!!

Honestly today don’t have her exact weight, but a couple weeks ago she was at 13.6 pounds. I’d say she’s at a good 14 - 14.5 pounds now!!! She’s becoming our little chunker!! :) In fact, take a look at the two pics below. The first one taken March 17 and the second one taken today!!

Please keep praying for this precious baby girl! And us too at Canaan as we are seeking God’s wisdom and direction for her life!

This year was extra special too because Steve and Jennifer, Stephanie and Natalie came to stay with us. And we got to scare off, I mean meet Ross, Steph's "friend". I think he's still around....

Haiti Update

Well, there isn't a whole lot of news...sorry to disappoint. However, I'm happy to say that some new adoptions are beginning to be processed!

So, will you please continue to pray for our next steps. We know that God has the little boy or girl picked out for us already and we are praying for him or her diligently. We just ask for you to join us in praying for her health, safety, and that she is being loved. We are currently in contact with GLA about adopting with them.

Also, a photographer friend of mine that I met at For the Love Workshop has new marketing idea to raise money for our adoption!! Can you believe it! It will be awhile before it happens, but I was so humbled tonight to hear her idea and feel the love of Christ through her. She is being the church.

Haiti

Well the guys have made it! They arrived in Haiti yesterday morning and were picked up by Elsie, who lives at Canaan. They drove around PAP for awhile and then headed to the orphanage with the 2nd group from the airport.

We want to say a HUGE THANKS to all of you who contributed financially or bought supplies for them to take. We are SO blessed by the community of believers we are a part of. Thank you for following the Lord's leading. Keep praying!

Jeremiah and Chris did not get to visit GLA yesterday because they have a no visitor policy on Sundays, which we respected. Praying for another chance, but we have an email address for Dixie, the director and have been in contact with her.

Having a great day. We've been packing food to give away at a village near Port tomorrow. Planning to visit GLA tomorrow also.

Mabry and I have been hanging out with Sarah and Brex this while the hubbies are gone. The kids are having fun, but not quite sure how to play TOGETHER. Brex is very active and ambitious while Mabry is quite cautious. Someone must have told her she's made of porcelin (i don't even know don't even know how to spell that - don't judge) because she thinks she breaks everytime she falls or he touches her! Cute, but not cute. This morning Brex really wanted to use her as a chair, but she wasn't so into that game. He thought it was a great idea. We were too slow with the camera....dang it.

Calling the Saints

Ok, where to start.....

First of all, I'm sorry to all our friends and family who we have not had a chance to talk to in person about this. But we would love to if you have more questions!

Remember a couple of years ago when Jeremiah and I went with about 12 other people, including Chris and Sarah Boddy to Haiti? Jog your memory here, here, and here.

We visited an orphanage near Port Au Prince called Canaan. We fell in love.

Fast forward to January 12, 2010.

Praise God, Canaan was not physically damaged by the earthquake near PAP. However, many of the children there lost family members, and because life in and around PAP has been turned upside down to say the least, they are affected in other ways.

So, this of course stirred our hearts to do anything we could for the orphanage and for Haiti. Even though we are just a few folks chipping in, we believe that is our calling as the body of Christ - to go BE the church. However we can.

So, THIS SATURDAY, Feb. 27, Jeremiah and Chris Boddy, along with a handful of other people are flying to PAP loaded with duffel bags of supplies for Canaan.

So that's one purpose of this trip for Jeremiah and Chris.

The second is this:
Adoption.

Since we went a couple of years ago our hearts beat for Haiti and for the children born into poverty, malnutrition, and abandonment. We, us and the Boddy's, have felt a calling to one day adopt from Haiti, whether from Canaan or another orphanage. Well that calling and stirring became very strong after the earthquake and we feel more than ever that the time is now, to start the process at least. As you have probably heard, all new adoptions in Haiti are closed. That's the heartache for us right now. Literally, everything is unknown in this area. So, we have no timeline, and really no direction right now. We are simply resting in the promise that God will do this however is going to bring Him the most glory. We are 100% committed to this and trust that God is going before us right now to prepare the way. Of course, we would love to be a miracle story, but know that God has a plan.

Here is where we are COVETING your prayers!

There is another orphanage, God's Littlest Angels, that we have been keeping up with.
Jeremiah and Chris are hoping to meet up with Dixie, the director, and visit this orphanage when they get there on Sunday morning. I really feel like this is going to be a huge step forward if they can get in with her and have a face to face conversation.

There are SOOOO many moving parts to this story and this journey to share right now, but feel free to call and chat anytime. We just really ask for prayer in this next week and half especially.

Please pray for:
God to be glorified
God to go before us and show us favor in this trip
travel and safety for the whole group
no delays
God's perfect timing
specifically a meeting with Dixie at GLA on sunday morning
**I forgot to mention that Jeremiah and Chris are the only two on the very first flight. The airline shifted things around, and we know there is a reason they are by themselves on this flight**

meeting the right people at the right time
a perfect child for each of our families (long term prayer)

Ok, I apologize for the lapse in blogging for the last few months.

Don't really have a good excuse, but alot has been going on. Mabry is now 1!! We can't believe it. Actually, she's already 13 months old - even crazier.

Rewind to Thanksgiving and that's where I'll pick up on the pictures and such. But you'll have to scroll down to the bottom and read backwards because the pictures are in order that way.

It's an issue I have with this Blogger world. And it most certainly isn't my fault for not adding them correctly.

Ok here we are at Christmas Eve - Mammy and Pappy's.

Now this. This is why Ken and Edie spend Christmas in Texas (and in Lubbock at that :( ). This happened overnight on the 23rd/24th. This is our backyard - not a post card from Alaska.

Books books books. How we lovvvvvee books. The lady bug book is our favorite at the moment, and after she opened it she didn't care about anything else!

Yummy! My first cupcake! Even though I found half of it in the chair when she got out, I think she enjoyed it.

The balloons were a hit - thanks Daddy! We played with the cellophane one for at least 2 weeks.

Papaw wanted to have Mabry's party at his house so we did! It was family and a few of our best friends. Mabry got this chair from Gram and Papaw - she loves it now, but wasn't too sure about it at first. Can you see her shirt? Jaclyn sent it to her and it was hilarious. It says "I'm the birthday girl. Now give me some cake!" Love it!

Fastforward to December 23rd! Mabry's birthday! Nana and Papa Ken came down from Missouri just so they wouldn't miss it. While they were here we celebrated Christmas and this was Mabry's favorite toy! It turned out that Nana and Papa Ken would spend Christmas in Texas....stay tuned.

While we were there we had the chance to take some family photos! It was kind of an adventure as I set up the camera and Jeremiah's aunt pressed the button. We needed someone behind the camera to make this kids look and smile - it kind of worked.

Here we are with Jeremiah's brother Matt, Jaclyn, and sleeping Brody. We weren't so lucky....

Alrighty. We went to Missouri for our Thanksgiving break and spent the whole week there. We had some great time with our Missouri family. And we ate sushi! Here are our nephew Brodie and Mabry at the END of our Silver Dollar City adventure. It was COLD COLD and you can tell by their faces they were ready to leave. Mabry thought she couldn't move because she had so many layers on :)

Mabry has been keeping us pretty busy around here. She's 10 months old and so fun! Everyday she does something new it seems like. Here are a few pictures of what's been going on around here.

We have been so busy this summer :: Moving, Weddings, the DOC Band, New Jobs, Traveling :: I haven't done a very good job at updating this blog. Ok let's face it I haven't updated it hardly at all.

Because of all of the above, I feel overwhelmed at what to post now that I have some time. Any sympathy out there??

Well to celebrate Mabry's 8 month birthday, she got to graduate from her DOC Band!!! Yea freedom!

She really doesn't care - but I'm SOOO excited to be done with it. Take a whif and you would be too :)

I blame the house. That's who I blame for keeping me from blogging for almost a MONTH. But the good news is we can see the light and it's getting close to move in time. Thanks to all our friends who have helped out and "given us what we paid for".

So I guess we should go back to the 4th of July. We went to Linden in East Texas for the 4th this year. It was my Mamma's (great-grandmother) 90th birthday and boy did we party! Since Linden falls pretty short on things to do we headed to Jefferson for a little shopping and fireworks. Here is Mabry in her red white and blue from Nana!

6 Months Old!

Well, time has not slowed down one bit. Mabry is already 6 months old!

I took some pictures of her yesterday morning - she was ready for a nap, but did pretty well. She's much more smiley than it looks. She's rolling over with a little bit of help. She's pretty talkative when you get her going, and today she learned that she could scream. Happy scream. We've never heard her that loud.

She's so much fun!

Her 6 month check up and first DOC Band appointment went well and had good reports.

Mabry Happenings

Well our little 5 month old is growing and changing everyday. Seriously, everyday she does something new. Since this thing won't let me put up pictures right now I'll just tell you about some of her cuteness.

She can pretty much sit up by herself with the boppy around her.
She's WAY too big for her bathtub.
She loves to eat her cereal now and opens her mouth as big as can to take a bite.
She has a little tooth!
She has to see EVERYTHING that's going on around her.
She likes to sleep with a blanket in her face.
She can give kisses. And they are the sweetest kisses in the world.
She can laugh, but she's hard to crack.
We think she's beginning to realize when I'm not around.

Today we go to have her fitted for her DOC band. I plan on taking some pictures so you can stay updated and continue to pray for her. Nothing about this whole procedure will be physically painful so we're thankful for that. We're just going to have to get used to her new accessory :)

I can't believe it's already June! This is only our 2nd summer in the last 6 years that we haven't been in the Kanakuk world so it doesn't really seem like summer yet. I guess I keep waiting for camp to start or something....

Friends and Family,

Just wanted to give a little update about Little Flat Head. Some of you don't even know what I'm talking about so I'll explain a little. At Mabry's 4 month well check our pediatrician said that she had a little bit of a flat head and to make sure she was getting enough time off her back. She also said that there were some corrective measures we could take and if we wanted to do that we needed to do it sooner than later. So, of course that's all I could think about for the next couple of weeks. Then I met Jessi's friend at Central Market whose son had on this band to correct his flat head. I asked her some questions and decided to go ahead and get a consult just to see if she needed it or not. Yesterday we went Cranial Technologies (www.cranialtech.com) for a consultation where they took pictures of Mabry's head at different angles. The clinician then came to go over the images with us and basically she is a candidate for the DOC Band. You've probably never noticed this with Mabry because she has so much hair and it does a good job of hiding the true shape. If you go to the website you will see that there are mainly 3 conditions of "flat head" and hers is called Brachycephaly, which means it's flat in the back with some asymmetry. (This really has nothing to do with the brain, it's the bone growth). The head grows in the areas of least resistance. So, if a baby lays on the back of their head for long amounts of time the head has a harder time growing that way because of all the resistance. And you're thinking, don't all babies have to lay that way??? Anyway, what the DOC Band does is provide resistance in the areas where we want to hold the growth, and promote growth in the areas her head needs to grow. The Band is worn 23 hours a day anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks, depending on how fast her head grows. The older a child gets the longer it takes. At this point, this is the best option for Mabry for a couple of reasons. The way a babies' head grows depends on two factors: genetics and environment. Since we can't change her genes, we have to change her environment. If she were few months younger we might be able to correct this without the Band by repositioning her when she sleeps and during other activities. But, now that she is sitting up and becoming more active it's unrealistic to keep her in the proper position long enough to make any changes. Also, it's not likely that it will correct itself at this point either. Her head is just going to get bigger in the shape it is. So, all the tummy-time in the world is not going to make her head shape better - it's just not going to make it worse.

So, the next step is to see what insurance says. We are concerned about the price of everything, but it's not a make or break factor. Also, the maintenance of this Band requires weekly or bi-weekly trips to the office for adjustments. She can probably stretch it to two weeks since we are moving, but that might still be hard. The only locations in Texas are Dallas and Austin.

Keep us in your prayers as we navigate this! I think it will be harder for Jeremiah and me than it will be for Mabry. But two months of her life is a very short time for something that will benefit her for the rest of her life.

I just posted that Mabry was 4 months old, and in 9 days she'll already by 5 MONTHS old!! This is going by so fast.

On May 3 we had a little baby dedication ceremony with our home group. Jeremiah and I committed with some of our closest friends in Keller to raise Mabry the way God desires and calls us to as parents of the wonderful gift he's given us. We're sad to leave these friends but they will always have a special place in our hearts because of the time we spent and life we share with them.

Next week Mabry will be 4 months old! Ahhhh. All the growing and changing is happening so fast I feel like I should take tons of pictures everyday. You might wonder why she's never smiling in pictures. She is literally so enthralled with the camera that she can't. Doesn't matter which camera - phone, regualr, or video - as soon as she sees it she's like a vault with the smiles. She needs a lesson from some of her cousins.

And today I was just playing around with Photoshop...

I put her here in the sitting position to see how she would do because she loves to sit upright on our laps. She kept falling forward. Belly-heavy I guess. Then one time she feel backwards and just slid down into this position. She decided she liked the new lounger for awhile. Don't you just want to take a bite out of those legs!!

Missouri Easter

We spent Easter weekend in Missouri! We we so blessed to be able to FLY. Mabry did pretty good on the plane. The 3 hour delay leaving on Thursday wasn't a great start to the weekend though. She was a little cranky. But, she officially discovered her voice and loves to use it! For a few weeks she really wanted to talk but couldn't quite remember how to make the sound come out. There for a few days she made sound like she was trying to play the trumpet with her lips pursed together. So funny. And she's falling in love with her Daddy, which is so adorable.

Just thought I'd give you a little peek into what's been going on around here.

As if we haven't been blown away everyday for the past 2 weeks, we had to get beat the other night. That's right. Golf ball sized hail...twice. It was about 10:30 pm and I was SURE I was about to have a crying baby to comfort back to sleep. Nope. Not a peep. Good girl.

Bath time is super fun at our house. Mabry LOVES the bath - just like her Momma. She smiles and kicks and splashes the water on her face and looks at me like "What did you do?" I think the only time she's cried in the tub is in her very first bath. Hopefully she will like the pool just as much this summer. After the bath is not quite as fun, but we're getting better. It's the pajama part that gets her. Gowns.... Or maybe it's because she knows the food is next and just can't handle the wait... Cute nevertheless.
I know I said she smile alot in the tub, and she really does. Except when there's a big black thing in her face. Then she's too busy trying to figure out what it is and can't smile.

Nice mohawk, huh? Yes, the hair is too long to stand up. We could have a Pebbles do already, but I'm holding back.

11 Weeks

Well, here we are after 11 amazing weeks! Everyday is so fun with Miss Mabry. She's alert to everything around her and just talks and grins and kicks her legs all the time. She also LOVES to take a bath but I don't have any pictures of that right now. It's on the list...

Her hand is her new favorite thing. Forget the sucker - let's see how much of my fist I can fit in here. And, our first big bow action. Her hair doesn't hold them in very well, and the headband doesn't work the best with hair but I thought it was cute for a couple of pictures.

She was definitely more concerned with her hand than smiling for me. Check out that belly!
The other day we went to get her up from her nap and this is position we found her in: Off the side of the wedge (those little velcro pads on there don't faze Moo Moo) she sleeps on and her head buried in the corner of the bumper pads. You can't see it but her left arm is sticking out the side of the crib! We thought it was hilarious and figured we should get a picture of this strange occurance, but she did it AGAIN after her next nap! Exactly the same. 3 times total. So, no more wedge.
She must be thinking, "Come on Mom, do I really look like I want to be sitting here???"

Well, little MooMoo went to the doctor last week. She now weighs 13 lb. 12 oz. and is 23 inches long! So far she's taking after her mom.

Mabry has also discovered the television. She knows where to look for it no matter where she's laying in the living room... Here is where she gets her diaper changed the most and if you can't tell, she's got her head turned so she can see the tv.

We're still working on head control but as long as she leans against the couch she can hold it straight.
They say "tummy time" is good for babies. SUPPOSEDLY they learn how to push up and work their neck and back muscles. Mabry here just thinks it's fun to lay there. Not much pushing up for this girl. She can turn from one side to the other if she wants to...IF.

This has been the most fun week. Mabry is really becoming alert and responding to different things. She is starting to smile on purpose when we talk to her, and she LOVES the star lights up on her play gym. When she gets really excited she raises her eyebrows really high and kicks her legs like crazy. It's adorable. Yesterday when I got her up from her nap she started smiling at me when I leaned over her bed and started talking to her. Awww....

I know I'm supposed to have pictures to go with what I just told you - I'm working on it, ok?

Week 6

Mabry is growing and changing so fast! I can't believe she'll be 6 weeks old tomorrow. Every day is more fun than the last and its so fun to watch her learn more about herself.
Some things she's discovered:
How to turn her head from one side to the other while she's laying on her tummy.
How to hold her head up and look at me
Kind of how to smile...although it's still mostly gas I think :)
That she doesn't like to quit eating to burp
That she loves movement
That she can put her hands in her mouth and suck on them

These two pictures should actually be reversed. She really started going to town on her hand for the first time and it was really cute. Then I decided I don't know if I really want to enforce that habit because I can never take the hand away. So, I replaced it with her sucker, which she continued to hold in her mouth. Until she falls asleep of course and her hand falls down, and then the sucker goes with it. So, here comes the hand again....sheesh.

Last weekend we decided to get out of the house and head to Snyder. There were a couple of people dying to see Mabry in particular...

You will notice that she is sleeping most if not all of these pictures. You would be worn out too after some of these visitors :) Of course the first picture is what she does best...just being a Daddy's girl.

4 Weeks Old!

Oh my gosh, I'm so big!
Uh, how long are you going to have that black thing in my face??

As you know our first 4 weeks of life have not gone exactly as planned, but we are doing great anyway! Beginning with birth Mabry has shown us how...let's say stubborn, or strong-willed...she might be when she decided to let Mommy push for 3 hours. Then we got to see how, once again, strong she was the 2nd time around in hospital for 2 weeks. She has also been holding her head up and looking around since she was about a week old. Did I mention I think she's really strong? Maybe I think this because she can already hold her body up when she straigthens out her little legs on my lap for several seconds. Besides being a strong little thing, she's a noisy one too. I've never heard so many grunts and squeaks come from something so small and so cute. (I won't even mention her champion burps and toots - whoa.) We kicked her out of our room because she makes so many noises. Don't think I'm complaining about those cute little sounds though because that means she's not crying all night! Praise the Lord! I will brag on her and her sleeping. She only cries when she's hungry. Watch - tonight she'll prove me wrong. I hope not! The girl also makes some of the cutest and funniest faces. She's a big time stretcher and would think she was waking up from hibernation sometimes. Gracious.

We are counting down the hours until Tuesday (hopefully morning) so we can take our baby girl home!!!

She is healing great and the doctors are all very optimistic that she will be totally fine, and probably already is.

A little bummer today...the IV stared leaking so we had to take it out. It lasted a week thankfully, but now we are either going to give her shots IM for the remainder of the medicine, or we might have to do another IV. We are about to try the first shot so pray that it won't be bad and she can handle 5 more. No more pricking than we have to.

Thanks so much for your prayers - we're almost there!

Day 5!

Praise Jesus! He is so faithful and gracious to us!

Mabry is infection free for another day, so only 5 more days to go. She is such a champ and so STRONG. Thank you again for all your prayers.

A bit of bad news...the PIC line was not successful. They only good option was in her neck and after trying both sides they both blew. Most likely because she was so upset as they were trying to do it. It's so sad to see her get upset when anyone just touches her because she thinks it's going to hurt. Yuck.

So, we just have to keep praying that the peripheral IV they have in her arm now will last and they won't have to redo it, again. She's also sleeping great which is good for Mommy and Daddy :)

Keep praying for the same things, and pray that we would maybe get to understand why this happened and how God is going to use this experience. Who needs to see His hand? (besides us:))

Well there are a couple of pieces of good news today....

The Longhorns won! And I'm pretty sure it's because of this little fan.

And the blood culture is still negative as of this morning! Praise Jesus!!!

It's still possible to grow bacteria but unlikely after this point. So, we are counting today as Day3 and continuing to pray that the culture stays negative. Now, we are looking at putting in a PIC line to finish out the antibiotics so that we don't have to keep moving her IV. The medicine is pretty hard on the veins so the doctors have recommended this as a good option. It's basically like an IV except she won't have anymore leads to drag around. Yea! The bummer is they have to poke her again to get it in. But I think Mommy and Daddy are going to step out this time. We're tired of seeing that.

So, please keep praying for the blood culture to stay negative, and for the doctor to successfully and quickly put in the pic line so that Mabry's little body can take the medicine a little bit easier.

We had a pretty good night last night and actually got some good sleep. Thanks for those prayers! And keep 'em coming!

Thanks for your prayers! We are definitely feeling them. As of now, the blood culture from yesterday, Jan. 4, has not grown anything and is staying negative. If it stays that way, today would be considered day 2 of our 10 day antibiotic run and we would only have 8 more. Praise God! So please keep praying for a consistently negative culture!!! This also means that the medicine is working well. Mabry seems to be feeling better and better and you would never know she was sick if you were here with us now. That's the hard part for us.

As you know it's hard to get adequate rest in the hospital so please pray for that as well. Jeremiah and I need to take care of ourselves so we can take care of our baby girl. Last night Mabry was cranky for a lot of early hours. She has slept alot today, which I'm thankful for because she needs it to heal. I'm just worried she's getting her days and nights mixed up here. We are trying our best to stay in a routine, but the hospital doesn't seem to want to run on our routine for some reason... We would love for you to also pray for rest for Mabry - that she would sleep until she needs to eat, and then sleep some more. That she would not be confused, and that God would give us as the parents the knowledge to know what to do with her.

Thanks again for all your prayers, phone calls, and messages. We feel so loved and blessed to have so many friends and family on their knees beside us.

Sweet Mabry

Well friends, our first few weeks "at home" are looking a little differently than we anticipated. Thursday, Jan.1, we brought Mabry to Cooks ER because she had a high temperature and have been here ever since. After running several tests and lots of poking the doctors found that she has a staph infection in her blood. They have been treating it with some strong antibiotics that seem to be working well. She feels better and is eating/sleeping/pooping/peeing normally. Because the medicine is so strong it sometimes makes her feel yucky and just causes discomfort for her little body. Our prayers right now are very specific: Pray that the blood sample they took today will not grow anymore bacteria. If it stays negative we will get to take her home in 10 days. If it is positive they will continue taking samples until a negative result, then we start the 10 day count down. I can't imagine the toll something like this takes on a 12 day old baby because I'm an adult who can barely hold it together. Please pray that God would comfort her little body and heal her quickly.

Thanks again for all your prayers. We saw through pregnancy and delivery that God is faithful and that he hears the prayers of the righteous so we are confident in that.

First of all we want to thank you SO much for your prayers. We knew that God would honor our hearts and our desires if we fully trusted him. It was amazing the way He worked - answering everything we prayed for specifically. We got to share with the nurses and our doctor, who is also a believer, how powerful prayer is.

And now for Miss Mabry....
Pictures will come soon so be patient:) but I'll tell you right now she is beautiful! She came out with some great skin - ha! And a full head of black hair!
She blew us all away at 8 lb 6 oz, 20 inches - no wonder I've been here for so long. What an experience. She was perfect through all of labor and there were no complications. The cord was around her neck when she came out, but it wasn't affecting her at all. She's getting a bath right now and all the treatments while I EAT!

We will keep you updated but again, thanks for your prayers and support. It's not easy to do alone.
Visitors are welcome anytime, but I know you all have your own Christmas plans so we'll see you when you when it's good for you.

Also we are humbled to think of the antipaction we've experienced most recently in comparision to the thousands of years of anticipation for Christ. What a great lesson we will always remember and get to share with our little girl! Merry Christmas!

After her last check Kasey had dilated a little bit. We elected to stay with it and try to get this little girl out the natural way. Right now Kasey is getting some much needed rest and waiting to see if she can continue to progress. We're going to wait and get a better idea this evening. As I write this I can overhear Ty laughing, no doubt loud enough for the entire floor to hear, while he's watching Christmas Vacation on TV. No better way to celebrate Christmas and the arrival of our little girl than to watch Christmas Vacation in our hospital room! Dwain and Ty got up and left Snyder at 4:30am to come and be with us. What a great Grandpa and Uncle our little girl is going to have. No doubt they will keep her entertained for years to come. Thank you for your continued prayer.

Since our last update we've had a little fun. The doctor came and broke Kasey's water around 10am. And that turned up the heat a little..then she started calling for the epidural. She did great, the contractions were pretty strong for about and hour until the drugs kicked in. Now she is feeling good..Thank God for the blessings of technology. Now we're just hanging out and waiting some more. It looks like things are moving kinda of slow at this point, but the Doctor should be back soon to check her over.

The morning started pretty early with a 5am wake up from the nurse. It sure seemed like a short night...maybe that's God's way of reminding us what the next year is going to be like. They started inducing Kasey this morning around 6 and the contractions are getting progressively stronger. She's doing great, just resting and waiting for the Doctor to come and check her progress. We've been set up in a great room, they say its the best in the hospital..corner room, really big with lots of windows. Everything is good so far. We've been watching Friends and Christmas Vacation on DVD trying to pass the time. Check back later for an update. Thanks for your continued prayers.

Here we are! We just arrived at the hospital around 8 tonight. What a huge answer to prayer we moved up three spots on the waiting list for tomorrow. Kasey is going to be induced in the morning at 6am, so we expect baby Mabry to show up very soon. Stay tuned for more!

For now we are just waiting patiently for Mabry to come along...
